Disposable Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) pipette offers a single, safe, economical and highly-accurate method for performing Westergren ESR determinations directly in a 12/13mm blood collection tube. The pipette is made from optically clear Polystyrene and is graduated from 0 to 170mm and features a unique stopper located at the ''0'' mark. The stopper is specifically designed to be a self sealing barrier that avoids the accidental contact of blood with mouth while sucking. The collar creates pressure on the blood in the tube and thus the blood moves up in the pipette at ''01 mark.   Advantages For direct testing in 12/13mm blood collection tubes
No additional vials, tubes or transfer pipettes necessary.
No need to transfer blood..
Risk free, accurate and reproducible results. Procedure Collect 1.6 ml of whole blood in 0.4 ml of Sodium Citrate 3.8% solution OR Take 1.6 ml of EDTA Anti Coagulated whole blood in 0.4 ml of saline. Use 12/13 X 75mm tube for the above.
Mix the blood gently.
Gently insert the lower end of pipette bearing the Collar into the tube and push it down slowly.
The blood will automatically rise into the pipette and will reach ''0'' mark to create a blood column of 200mm.
Place the assembly ( tube + pipette) absolutely vertical on a suitable stand and allow the blood cells to sediment. Leave it undisturbed for 60 mins.
Read the result (the level of blood column) exactly after 60 mins.
